Karambu Ringera, PhD

Karambu, the founder of International Peace Initiatives and the Tiriji Eco Peace Center in Meru, Kenya, our longtime friend and kindred spirit in peacemaking, has been nominated for Kenya's National Diversity and Inclusion Awards & Recognition (DIAR Awards) 4th Edition in the award category Diversity and Inclusion, Peace and Cohesion Champion Award. Karambu’s self-reliance and leadership model has been recognized globally for its impact on hundreds of children who are orphaned by AIDS and other tragic consequences of poverty. Little ones are now college graduates and leaders in their own right who embody the lessons learned while under Karambu’s care and mentorship.

Briggs Geister and Kevin Leis aka Rose and The Thorn

Rose and The Thorn, Colorado’s Musical Storytellers

Life is so unpredictable. In 2019, Briggs Geister hit a high note singing backup on an album featuring Kevin Michael Leis. Then, tragically, she lost her beloved husband Robert. Three years later we are in a pandemic and Briggs and Kevin are now a singing-songwriting duo, partnered in life as well as music. On Valentine’s Day 2022 their first album together performing as Rose and The Thorn made its debut. “Just a Number,” tells the story-songs of joy at finding love again later in life. PS Briggs was just inducted into ASCAP, the professional organization of 850,000 songwriters, composers and music publishers! Indeed, life is so unpredictable.

Dan Mahle

If you’re out to change the culture you’ve got to be visionary and bold! Dan is both. His coaching and consulting organization, Wholehearted Masculine, supports White men to engage meaningfully in Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (JEDI) work. Dan and his colleagues support White men as they become active, accountable partners in building equitable and human-centered cultures of belonging. During the pandemic Wholehearted Masculine launched Learning Labs and Accountable White Men’s Caucus Groups for men committed to serving as meaningful and important partners in disrupting systems of oppression and building a more equitable world for all.

Sandi Neiman, LMFT-A, MA, MS

After a long health care career which began in the clinical practice of audiology and then grew into the management of medical device manufacturing, Sandi is again innovating! She recently launched a private practice specializing in Medical Family Therapy. It is all too rare for individuals and families coping with chronic and life-threatening illnesses to get the emotional and mental health support they need. Recognizing that both patients and caretakers face stressful life changes. Therapy can address adjusting to a new diagnosis, making life-altering decisions related to medical conditions, and the shifts in family dynamics as everyone tries to cope. In the early stages of Don’s diagnosis with GPA we were offered a team of specialists who literally saved his life. However, the one missing and much-needed member was a therapist familiar with the stresses associated with illness. We can only wonder how our pathway forward would have been eased had a professional with Sandi’s training, experience and compassion accompanied us on this journey.
